As you can see from this picture, the kiddos kinda sit wherever they please if they aren't the helper of the day (H today). It's fun to have the freedom to do calendar "circle" time anywhere inside, outside or even while traveling...so glad I read about making one on a foam board! It really fits my fairly spontaneous personality.
E's day on this board...her job is to put a sticker on the right day on our calendar. There's a paperclip with a smiley face on it that slides back and forth to show who the helper of the day is...they also choose any 10-30min video we might watch.
After we sing the date and months song, she decides what the weather is like outside. At the beginning of the month we discuss birthdays and write them down to review throughout the month. We just added that and the seasons, which the kiddos have seemed to enjoy! We also added the yellow part which includes a trait, letter/number/sight word, shape, exercise move, sign language sign, and color of the week or day cards...we switch some of them out faster than others. They have really enjoyed these...everything is done with velcro now - - LOVE it!!
All the extras calendar pieces are in separate cups.
We worked on Pond rhyming words all together. Caleb really "got it" and drew the lines for us. Then they each did a pre-writing tracing sheet where they "took the duck to the pond."
Very focused! =)
I got ideas and printables from 1+1+1=1 and homeschoolcreations.
